The aquatic center is the result of painstaking labor by a passionate coalition of local advocacy groups with a shared commitment to water safety. The 48,000 square foot facility will be located at 32 Beach Street, and feature both indoor and outdoor pools for public use, with a deck overlooking the ocean. Assorted classes and training programs will be offered within the aquatic center’s several multi-purpose rooms.
“Establishing the first public swimming pool here is about more than recreation – it’s about equity, safety, and opportunity,” says Kaitli
n Krause, Founder & Executive Director of Rising Tide Effect, which aims to bring water safety education to underserved and at-risk communities. “This significant investment in an aquatic center shows what is possible when leadership leads with vision, advocates persist, and a community stays at the table until it gets what it needs.”
