Who is Aminatu?
A LIVING TESTIMONY
The following is told in Ms. Noah's own words:
“Going back to June 21st, my whole world changed. That day lives with me — every breath, every moment since.”
On that day, Aminatu Noah received a call that shattered her world. Her son Elyjha and his friend Christian drown and were missing in the water at Riis Beach. They were young, full of life, and completely unaware of what a rip current was.
“I lost not just my son, Elyjha, but his friend Christian too. I lost pieces of myself. The pain is endless. The silence without you is loud.”
Day after day, she went back to the beach. Searching. Praying. Hoping. Then came June 28th — Elyjha’s birthday. Her family returned to that same beach and called their names out to the sea. The very next day, Elyjha’s body was found. On June 30th, Christian’s body surfaced too.
“It wasn’t the miracle I prayed for but it was an answer. God gave us the chance to bring our boys home and lay them to rest.”
“With tears in my eyes and pain in my heart, I kept going. Faith kept me. Prayer kept me. Love kept me.”
And then she made a choice.
“Your lives, your memories, your spirits — will be the reason no other parent has to feel this pain.”

WATCH A MOTHER'S VOICE
My son ELYJHA didn't know what a rip current was.
"Both of them just didn't know the risk."
Elyjha's mother decided no one else should have to say the same thing.

Who is Elyjha?
Full of life and dance
Elyjah Chandler was 16 years old. He loved to dance. He was the kind of person who filled a room—warm, expressive, and deeply loved by everyone around him. He went to Riis Beach on June 21st, the way young people do—for the joy of it and as relief from the heat. For the cool water and the freedom of a summer late afternoon. No one had ever told him about rip currents. No one had ever taught him what to do if one caught him.
“I will speak your names with pride — Elyjah. Christian. You will never be forgotten. I promise that.”
“Every child deserves the chance to live, to grow, to swim safely. And every parent deserves to bring their babies home.”

Someone you love might not either.
