Job Description:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swimming lessons to students of all abilities and ages. They will provide guidance and instruction on water safety, stroke technique, and proper swimming form, as well as teaching basic swimming skills. They also help students to become comfortable and confident in the water. Swim instructors may also supervise pool areas and enforce swimming pool rules.
Paid staff training will take place at the end of June for 8 hours (Date & Location TBD). Lunch will also be provided.
📅 Regular Weekly Schedule: 📅
The Rockaway Hotel: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 7:15 am to 9:45 am.
Ocean Park Apartments: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:45 am to 1:15 pm
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction and activities safely
Supervise participants in outdoor and water settings
Follow safety, emergency, and environmental protocols
Support learning, confidence, and teamwork
Communicate concerns or incidents to Site Leads
Minimum Requirements:
Must be legally allowed to work in the state of New York
Must pass a certified background check
Additional Preferences:
Certification in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding and / or AED is a bonus
Experience teaching swimming for all ages
