Job Description:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Support & Wellness Lead (for participants) exists to address gaps in communication, emotional support, and safe self-expression within the program. This role ensures participants have consistent access to a trusted support person, a designated space to process concerns, and clear pathways for communication and intervention when challenges arise.
The role is preventive, supportive, and observational—not disciplinary—and is embedded directly into daily program activities.
We are searching for an individual who is a Licensed Social Worker or Therapist with experience working with youth or group-based programs
Key Responsibilities:
Designated Participant Support & Safe Space
Serve as the primary point of emotional and social-emotional support for participants
Establish and maintain a designated physical and/or scheduled space where participants can talk privately
Proactively check in with participants, especially those who appear withdrawn, overwhelmed, or disengaged
Active In-Classroom & Program Presence
Be physically present in classrooms, program sites, and transitions
Observe group dynamics, attention levels, and participant engagement
Communication & Reporting Structure
To prevent gaps in communication, the Wellness Lead is responsible for timely, structured reporting:
Report concerns related to engagement, emotional well-being, or behavior directly to the Program Manager
Behavioral Infractions & Response Protocol
Support the participant through the process in a restorative, educational manner
Ensure participants understand expectations and next steps
Do not issue discipline independently
Documentation & Continuity of Care
Maintain clear, objective documentation of:
Observations
Participant check-ins
Interventions and follow-ups
Minimum Requirements:
LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent licensure (or license-eligible)
Must be legally allowed to work in the state of New York
Must pass a certified background check
Experience working with youth or group-based program
Additional Preferences:
