Job Description:

Swim Corps is Rising Tide Effect’s earn-while-you-learn workforce development program for NYCHA youth, combining swim instruction, water safety education, job readiness, and wellness.


The Mobility Trainer will lead weekly movement and mobility sessions designed to help participants better understand how their bodies move, prevent injury, and build strength, balance, and body awareness. Sessions will focus on practical movement skills that translate into everyday life, swimming performance, and overall physical well-being.


The trainer will work with four groups of approximately 25 participants each. Each group must receive one hour of mobility and movement instruction per week over a six-week period. The trainer may structure sessions and group flow as appropriate to best support participant engagement and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead weekly mobility and movement sessions for Swim Corps participants

  • Teach proper movement mechanics, flexibility, and injury prevention techniques

  • Help participants understand how movement patterns apply to daily activities and aquatic training

  • Adapt exercises to accommodate different fitness and mobility levels

  • Create an engaging, inclusive, and safe learning environment

  • Coordinate with program staff to align sessions with overall program goals

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be legally allowed to work in the state of New York

  • Must pass a certified background check

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience teaching mobility, movement, fitness, or body mechanics to youth or groups

  • Strong understanding of safe movement practices and injury prevention

  • Ability to engage and manage groups of up to 25 participants

  • Strong communication and instructional skills

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional

  • Background in kinesiology, physical therapy, athletic training, movement education, or related field

  • Experience working with youth workforce or community-based programs

  • Experience working alongside aquatic or sports-based programs
