Job Description:
The Swim Corps program was launched in 2023 and is ready to welcome this season’s Cohort Leaders and participants.
Our Cohort Leaders are responsible for ensuring safety in and around the pool, supporting our participants during excursions like surfing and kayaking and enforcing our code of conduct. This role involves working directly with individuals ages 16 to 24 years old, whilst displaying good leadership skills. Additionally, Cohort Leaders are expected to track the participant’s hours, ensure the participants get to each event / location on time, and clearly communicate if there are any changes to the program agenda.
You will work closely with other Cohort Leaders for support, as well as our Program Director who is there to ensure you have all the necessary information and resources to succeed in your role. You are expected to collaborate with the Program Director to solve any problems that may arise during the program, to ensure all participants are safe and included and to provide feedback on what is working well or not working well as part of the program.

📅 Regular Weekly Schedule: 📅
Program Runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.*
*The start date is July 6, 2026, however mandatory paid staff training will be held on one day in June (Date & Location TBD). Some remote administrative hours may be required on Mondays and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Program Preparation: Complete all onboarding tasks, including submitting all documents and payroll details, attending required orientations and staff training, and setting up communication channels with participant’s details.
Daily Leadership: Ensure participants are registered, equipped with their gear, and engaged throughout the day. Maintain accurate time logs for both yourself and participants, and address any issues promptly with the Program Director.
Weekly Coordination: Communicate weekly schedules, updates, and expectations to participants. Ensure homework is completed and participants are prepared for each session.
On-Site and Off-Site Management: Foster teamwork and accountability within your cohort, maintain cleanliness and order at all locations, and represent Rising Tide Effect with professionalism.
Program Graduation: Celebrate the cohort's success by completing all graduation related tasks, and answering any end of program questions.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be legally allowed to work in the state of New York
Must be a minimum of 20 years of age
Must pass a certified background check
Additional Preferences:
Experience in child care, summer camps, coaching, lifeguarding, or as a swim instructor
A driver’s licence, valid in New York State
CPR Certification
Lifeguard Certification
Experience in Google Sheets / Microsoft Excel
Experience with Google Calendar
